Christian Novels About Strong Women of Faith

Some of the strongest women who ever lived never made it into a history book. They were mothers and grandmothers who gave up their own plans, carried their families through hard seasons, and held on to God when their prayers felt unanswered.

If you love stories about women like that, here are well-loved Christian novels (and one memoir) about women of faith who sacrifice for the people they love, plus the one I wrote about my grandmother.

Why these stories stay with us

Most of us have a woman like this in our family. We may not know all of her story, but we live with what she gave up. These books give those quiet sacrifices a voice. They show faith not as an easy answer, but as the thing that keeps a woman going when nothing else does.

  • A Light of Hope by Anna Broome. My novel, inspired by the true story of my grandmother, a young wife and mother in a village on Crete who held her family together through poverty, war, and a marriage that tested everything she believed. It’s the story of the mother my father left behind, and the faith that carried her when her prayers felt unanswered.

Why I wrote A Light of Hope

When I finished writing Hope Is My Anchor, I thought I had told my family’s story. But as readers began asking questions, I realized there was another story that deserved to be told. What about the mother he left behind? Who was she before life became so difficult? How did she keep going after watching her son leave? How did her faith sustain her through years of uncertainty?

Those questions became A Light of Hope. While it’s inspired by my grandmother’s life, it also honors the countless mothers whose quiet faith, sacrifice, and love have shaped generations.
