The Hope Series: Hope Is My Anchor and A Light of Hope by Anna Broome

The Hope Series

A family’s story. A legacy of hope.

Inspired by my own family’s journey from a small village in Crete to America, The Hope Series is a collection of faith-filled historical novels exploring family, forgiveness, resilience, and the enduring hope that carries us through life’s greatest challenges.

Although each novel can stand on its own, the stories build upon one another, inviting readers to experience the lives, struggles, and triumphs of one family across generations.

Whether you’re drawn to historical fiction, Greek heritage, stories of faith, or the relationships that shape who we become, I hope these books remind you that every family has a story worth preserving.

A Hope Is My Anchor reader★★★★★

This wasn’t just a novel. It reminded me to ask my own parents about their lives before it’s too late.

Book Two: A Light of Hope

A Light of Hope

Long before Manny’s journey began, there was Sapphira. As a young wife and mother living in a small mountain village on the island of Crete, Sapphira learns that hope isn’t found in easy circumstances—but in choosing faith when the future feels uncertain.

Set against the backdrop of war, hardship, and the quiet strength of family, A Light of Hope reveals the sacrifices of one remarkable woman whose legacy would shape generations she would never live to see.

Available in Kindle and Paperback.

Questions About The Hope Series

Is Hope Is My Anchor a true story?

Mostly, yes! It’s based on my dad’s real life — running away from his home on Crete at twelve, his years at sea, and building a new life in America. The major events really happened. What I filled in were the conversations, since nobody remembers every word from sixty years ago, and I changed a couple of details and added some symbolism to bring out the faith at the heart of the story.

What order should I read The Hope Series in?

Start with Hope Is My Anchor, Book One. A Light of Hope, Book Two, goes back to 1934 to tell Sapphira’s story, the mother Manny left behind. Each book also stands on its own.

Is The Hope Series Christian fiction?

Yes. It’s historical fiction with faith at its heart, centered on forgiveness, family, and hope through hard seasons.

Where is The Hope Series set?

On the island of Crete, at sea, and in Michigan.

Where can I get the books?

On Amazon. Hope Is My Anchor is in Kindle, paperback, and hardcover (Expanded Edition), and A Light of Hope is in Kindle and paperback. The Hope Is My Anchor Book Club & Study Guide is available in paperback on Amazon, too.
